..because you can beat anyone who is good at the game by just mashing buttons. No, aaaand... No. I agree with him! Button mashing indeed! I've played a lot of fighting games. I also like a lot of fighting games. But I cannot think of a fighting game that I can comfortably say was actually con...

Ya gotta have a hordling in there. Yes, Hordling is definitely a must. Same with pervert boss from PDWT. I got a couple more from games I played: Adam from Lost Eden. The Chef from PO'ed. Johnny Bazookatone ... ugh... we'll make that character suck. and I'm quite proud of this one: Dennis Miller , ...

Everyone from Road Rash, if we can choose multi system games. Heck yeah. Ports or games based off other lore should be fair game. I think we'd pretty much have to anyway. I would choose Mike or Rhonda from Road Rash, they seems the most unique. Hehe, and good call on Captain Quazar and the Blade Fo...

3DO Super Smash Brothers
At lunch one day a few of my friends and I discussed what characters you'd see on an XBox Super Smash Brothers. Instead of Mario and Luigi, you'd see Master Chief and Commander Shepard. I starting pondering if I could even come up with enough 3DO characters for a 3DO super smash brothers. Here are s...

Thread revival! Anybody with the hardware or knowledge on this flightstick? I would really like to get flightstick support added to 4DO. Again, to clarify, it would be very helpful to know if there's a game out there that will give me an indication that the console has detected a flight stick plugge...

Er um. Yeah. That was odd. Quite the surreal thread! By the way, hi again! Work stress monopolized my attention for months. I've accepted a new job now and I'm back on the 3DO community radar. 4DO updates! Hooray! As far as Way of the Warrior, I loved this game. I saw it as clearly graphically super...

I'm not entirely certain the 3DO can play VCD format on it's own. I think that there was some hardware VCD add-on to the 3DO. Do you have one of these? I'll bet someone could find some freeware software that could convert to VCD. I'm kinda doubting you have one though... To get a video to play on a ...

3do game with flight stick and/or control test
I find myself interested in finding out how to support the flight stick for 4DO. I was only able to figure out controls for a regular gamepad because I could disassemble FreeDO and then plug away at the remaining bits for the multi-player support. For a flight stick, however, I don't really have any...

Analysis complete. It looks like an MD5 of the first two sectors (first 4k) is what I'll be starting with! There was in fact only one game that prevented me from using merely the first sector. Not even the multi-CD games were a problem. All titles were unique and distinguishable except for one miscr...

I loved Alone In the Dark. I also bought #2 a few months later. I found Alone in the Dark 2 very frustrating. But I loved 3D so much that I was able to slog through the awful gameplay and pathetic puzzles. Also, the music kicked some serious ass, and for that reason it's one of the games I use perio...

Identical 3DO CDs
I'm working on a unique-id system for 3DO games. In the process, I've found what looks to be genuinely identical CD images. A lot of them are just EU and US duplicates, but then there are some rather confusing duplicates in the 3DO magazine and samplers realm... Does anybody happen to have these CDs...

The only problem I could imagine here is if some company wrote a generic LaunchMe program that launches another executable on the disc and used that for every one of their games. But I can't imagine why they would do that. I'd be surprised if 3DO would have even approved a game made like that back ...

I'm liking a lot of the features present in this emulator. Any chance of either saving or displaying the output logs (or stdio) that were part of FreeDO? Thanks for the compliment! Also, I currently output this stuff to the console. Try running 4DO from a command prompt and redirecting standard out...

After that, LaunchMe is the main executable, so you can guarantee that it will be unique for all games (including different versions of a game). Really? How would it be unique? Is there a timestamp or something? I installed the SDK and got the samples compiling and such. I also remember the cd mast...

Alrighty Mobius, you spilled the beans that you've done some homebrew, and now you have to put up with my incessant questions. My first conundrum is game identification . By the way, I would of course appreciate opinions from anyone else that would care to chime in. I've been attempting to dream up ...

Buzz!!!! I'm just throwing my vote in that I love the SDD disk I got. Everything is legitimately faster. Also, there's no noise. It's all about price though. I've seen cheap deals show up like $100 for 94Gb. Hm, and I suppose if it were down to that or a sweet juicy tablet as a toy, I'd go with the ...

Well no major bugs to report at this time. The only thing keeping me from using the emulator for a long period of time right now is the sound stuttering. I tried putting the emulator's priority to high in the task manager and it still does it. It seems to starts acting up within 2 to 3 mins of use....

Also, Is there plans for vsync or triple buffering for the video? Actually, I do triple buffering already! Yes, I wasted your machine memory without even asking. :) I do not do VSync, although I sure tried to. I was unable to find a way to accomplish this without resorting to DirectX or OpenGL. Not...

Thanks for the find! I have an initial fix up here http://www.fourdo.com/?p=69 Unfortunately, I don't have a copy of Need For Speed to try. Well, I can't find it yet. I was getting a bit tired of SourceForge's cumbersome system. I decided to create a minimally functional website to serve as my news platform. Version 1.0.3.0 Available! Key changes: * CD-Rom support - Play straight from CD! Minor changes: * I added a "File -> Close" option to close whatever is currently open. * The option to "load state" on startup has changed into an option to "load state" whenever a game loads. For example, if you open...

Regarding the edit above, Altmer provided clarification that his new emulator will NOT be open source, but that the interface to it will be. Bummer. But, at least having an open interface allows for a new UI to be thrown on top of it. Does anyone have an ideas on running Crash n Burn (game cycles t...

Altmer provided me with some helpful information. He tells me that the FreeDO source that is available on google code includes many of the improvements from FreeDO 2.1. As far as 4DO is concerned, that's great news. He is also working on a "new" emulator. New as in not FreeDO. One of the things he i...

Version 1.0.2.0 Available Version 1.0.2.0 alpha includes: * NVRAM support : Quite the lazy job on my part. It just saves to "NVRAM_SaveData.ram" in the same directory as 4DO.exe. This is non-configurable, but it works! * Fix to a crash on startup resulting from toggling certain settings. So, it's n...
