Re: Magazine tidbits

Zombies? Well Hell, what happened there? I don't even recall seeing Zombies in the game either. Perhaps there is another build of the game out there with the Zombies? Now it's time to see if we can dig this up. Perhaps there was another version of the game and they changed it before release. That ac...

Re: Probe, the lowest bidder?

Sorry to hear that PR for JagCD is a sloppy one. Especially as I believe it is pretty rare/expensive too. More of a collectors rarity I guess, huh? How does it stack up next to the 3DO port then? Do you happen know? We have actually talked about this extensively in the 3DO section and also tore it ...

Re: Upgrade cartridge?

All this M2 talk still makes me sad. I remember how excited I was when they were touting the system for the E3. Everything was looking so good and then people at Matsushita lost their nerve, thus sending the M2 into the dreamland of consoles that never technically were. I know they were technically ...

Re: Star Wars X-wing shooter games.

Ah yes, the old comparison videos. As funny as it is, I always liked the color schemes for the Saturn version of this game much better than the Playstation versions. I also think that the HUD and map look nicer on the Saturn as well. I guess you could say that the texture and color blending is a bit...

Re: Road Rash getting back into it.

Does this have anything to do with the 2x disc read speed option you can toggle in the PS2's bios/menu? I don't have those options turned on. There are very brief moments, especially in valleys, where it gets pretty smooth. I don't remember noticing that on my PS1, but I guess I'll have to dig that...

Re: Upgrade cartridge?

Let us say that it did come out in the Summer of '95 and it only cost $100. Do you think it would have saved the system? That, indeed, is a great question. The answer is actually a very easy one in the end, it would depend on what games were released to support the add on. Historically speaking, th...

Re: Upgrade cartridge?

This was what EGM and many other gamers assumed the M2 was going to be originally. There was talk that the M2 would plug into the expansion slot of the 3DO system upgrading it to a 64 bit machine. If my understanding is correct, this was actually originally the plan as the 3DO was supposed to be the...

Re: Top Scratches, the bane of Retro Gamers and CD's

Unless your games are actually not working properly, don't do anything. All you'll be doing is risking causing further damage by trying to fix something that isn't even a problem in most cases. The error correction can cope with a surprising amount of dots, and not all of them are user inflicted da...

Re: Any 3DO fans in Chicago?

Couldn't say for sure, but I think the 2 million figure is much more credible. For instance, consider the fact that the Saturn sold about 9.5 million units worldwide. If you take into account that the Saturn's market availability lasted longer than the 3DO's, especially in Japan, and the Saturn bei...

Re: Top Scratches, the bane of Retro Gamers and CD's

The label idea probably will work as well. My only worries would be the texture of the glue reflecting the laser somewhere else (probably not a real problem) but also it would make the CD's weight off center. That sticker, while not weighing much, will put the CD off balance. Yes there are clamps t...

I wouldn't know what to tell you about the CD's themselves. If they come in their own sleeves, keep them in those, but go get yourself some acid free backboards and magazine poly-bags from your local comic book shop. They do make them for mags. AND, they also make Magazine storage boxes as well! So,...

Re: Top Scratches, the bane of Retro Gamers and CD's

I have gotten Audio CDs to work again by using a black marker on the top. All the laser needs is to be able to read where the light comes back and since it is still smooth on the other side and the data is sandwiched between the two it's ok. I've done this several times. B-52's Good Stuff CD comes ...

I remember reading that too at the time. I was looking forward to it almost as much as the Star Trek title. Star Trek? The PC Version looks nice. Doesn't seem to be anything the 3DO can't do, so I have no clue why it didn't release unless Dynamix was upset with how the other titles sold, although I was under the impression that "The Incredible Machine" did VERY well. Would have been nice anyway just to have another ...

Re: Top Scratches, the boon of Retro Gamers and CD's

You know, after some research, I have come to the conclusion that you might be able to use silver VOID stickers on the tops of your disc to save the game. Only reason I am thinking this is that the laser needs to reflect back to read and they are shiny bottomed, meaning they may reflect back the las...
