Let me know if you decide to give it a new home. I have an empty Goldstar box that needs to be filled. I thought for sure I'd be sending this one to you, but it turns out that it runs burns brilliantly (at least the 2-3 I tried), even burns on cheaper media like Sony. So I ended up giving it to my ...

You have correct expectations ... sadly. My Goldstar used to spit out burnt discs left & right. It would take multiple attempts to get it to read them. FZ-1 is the champ, Goldstar is the chump. Bizarrely, it turned out to be the opposite: the Goldstar had no trouble with the burns I tried, either o...

Got a GoldStar unit yesterday for $15, with a 6-button controller and a loose disc of Fatty Bear's Birthday Surprise (which brings my collection of 3DO original games to around 45). Fatty Bear seemed to run perfectly; I haven't tried any burned backups yet, but my expectations are low since it's a G...

FWIW, in some cases I've found that CDR vs. original disc isn't quite as cut-and-dried as the above post makes it sound. I've definitely noticed that my Sega CD unit actually gets a better read from quality CDRs (Taiyo Yuden), burned at low or low-ish speed, than from original Sega CD games in sub-o...

I'll have to give this one a shot at some point. The Sega CD version becomes almost unplayable on Hard because the targeting lock-ons disappear, so with the horribly compressed video, you end up with enemies that are impossible to spot amidst the grain and clutter of the washed-out backgrounds. I wa...

Re: I've had a shitty weekend
pttf. no matter what american TV thinks DAMN and BASTARDS are not swear words, both have been in titles of movies :P Hell*, both words are in the King James Bible! But I think it's the thread title that's more of an issue... *(see what I did there?) To the OP: I assume you're using real pressed 3DO...

Re: Fansubbing 3DO games.
I've just UnCDROM'd Dr Hauzer, and the entire text is easily readable in Japanese, and stored neatly, it's even formatted in seperate files, on the disk. It wouldn't take much to Fansub this. Once you've got a script dump, it's much much easier to get a translator on board. I'm sure someone at ROMH...

So then, Phil.. That means you wouldn't mind parting that Mortal Kombat Trilogy out for, oh I don't know.. $10? (j/k of course.. unless you really want to! ;) :P ) Haha! :D I'm keeping that one, at least for now, and all the Saturn games I got -- even though I don't have a Saturn yet. But the...

In a mail order site of Japan, this "MAZER" is sold for 2,300 yen (Approximately 31 dollars), will i be worth buying it? ?(no box, manual only) That sounds expensive to me, but my copy was $10, so maybe I'm biased. Can I enjoy it even if i cannot understand English? :? You definitely won't need much...

Thanks! We're still sorting through it, but it's an absolutely insane haul, especially given the price she paid (which was so low that I'm too embarrassed to post it). Most of the popular SNES titles, lots of hard-to-find PlayStation games including Mega Man Legends 2 and Tron Bonne, quality N64 and...

Saturn is a good choice. I bought one just because I was curious about it and it's become an enjoyable system. I even find myself still buying things for it recently. It turned out to be just what a game system is supposed to be... fun. Yeah, I've wanted one for a while, and I remember enjoying ses...

When it comes to the "transitional" 32-bit systems, I started with the 32X, for which I have about 2/3 of the released games. I picked up a 3DO toward the end of 2010 IIRC, and am up to around 40 games. I don't plan or expect to ever have a complete 3DO collection (domestic or pan-galactic), but if ...

Ha, it's pretty funny that Austin was the last person to post in this thread. (Austin, I'll let you decide whether to reveal why... :) ) Anyway, I just got Mazer on Friday, put it in for testing this morning, and ended up playing through the end (which took about three hours). It's so utterly a prod...

I liked Immercenary. I pretty much said my piece in the review thread , but the bottom line is that it's not really a traditional FPS, but more of a Spectre clone. If you can get your head around that, then as long as you're careful not to save after getting killed (since there's no upside to doing ...

This game bears an uncanny resemblance to Toy Commander for the Dreamcast! Or vice versa, whichever you prefer. I did a double-take when I watched the Youtube video linked above -- there are a bunch of gameplay elements that are also in TC. Even the music is sort of similar. Of course Toy Commander ...

That's a nice, well-written review, but I have to say that the game's brevity is still a big issue for me. I beat Arcade mode on my first try -- I was just intending to test the game! -- and then beat 3DO mode just to make sure I hadn't missed anything. Nope, just the same game with texture mapping ...

@GB--it's great to see you here man! I mention this forum over at AtariAge when I can, but we do not get many people trickling over. Aw, thanks! I've been registered for a few months, but only in the past week or so have I been playing the 3DO a lot again. (For those who don't know me, I'm mainly a...

Thanks! I sat down for another session today and made it to about halfway through the fourth world. The tunnels get more aggravating later in the game, but it seems like there's usually some trick to dealing with them, e.g. letting yourself get propelled super-fast so that you can catch the iris-sty...

I'm not sure that I've ever tried the one-player mode in Trip'd -- maybe for a few minutes when I first bought it? The two-player mode is good fun, though it could use more options. My girlfriend and I fired it up the other night, and once we got into the zone it was surprising how much time it ate ...

This was the first 3DO game I ever completed. To my surprise, I enjoyed it quite a bit! The initial learning curve was very steep, but at heart it's just a gussied-up version of the old Mac game Spectre, with a touch of the old, hardcore RPGs that forced you to go back to town every few fights until...

Some nice reviews in this thread. I've had the PlayStation version of this for some time, but only played it for a bit before getting frustrated -- I seem to recall I was having a hard time getting into the tunnels for some reason. I bought the 3DO version a couple months ago (unfortunately missing ...
