Re: Review - Escape From Monster Manor

I started playing Escape from Monster Manor earlier this week, put quite a bit of time into it, and ended up beating it today. Overall I enjoyed it, which is unusual for me when it comes to FPS titles (I'm not normally a fan). But the controls are responsive, the framerate is smooth, the graphic des...

Re: Recommend a Sega game

Gain Ground for the Genesis, which is easily in my top 10 for the system. It's quite hard to categorize; you could call it an overhead run-'n'-gun with a heavy dose of strategy and a huge cast of characters, but that still doesn't quite do it justice. It's brilliant in co-op.

Re: Immercenary

Yeah, I think it took me more like 4-5 hours to level up enough to hang with tougher opponents. It takes a while, but once you break through in this game, everything starts moving pretty quickly.

OK, so -- after several days of downtime -- we're moved and all set now? The migration described here is, on the 3DO end of things, a done deal?

Is there something wrong with the server?

I keep getting "500 Internal Server Error" messages from the site, and though I can usually get through after 2-15 seconds, they seem to be getting worse. Is the server having issues?

Nah, I actually get what you're saying. I'm a big fan of some of those "outsider musician" folks, like The Shaggs and Shooby Taylor. I love it to death because it's interesting to me but most other people lose their minds when I play it. I almost had a mob started when I was playing The Shaggs at w...

Possibly interesting trivia: PDWT used vertical blank as a timing source for the slide show. As a consequence, it fell out of sync badly on PAL systems such that, after about half a minute, the audio had nothing whatsoever to do with what was on the screen. In fairness, that's close to the status q...

Do couple of playthroughs of 2 burned games kill the console within 20-40 hours of game time? I'm not sure exactly how many hours I logged on my first FZ-1 with burned games, but it was probably in the 10-20 hour range, and I noticed no decrease in performance over that span of time. Or does it tak...

6. CD-Rs do cause strain on Dreamcast laser lenses, I know I had to take one of mine apart to adjust the pot after playing a modded version of Shenmue. A game I actually own. The whole Dreamcast issue is different, though, because the "scene" also made massive changes to the data structure of discs...

???? Uhm, yeah. Not trying to be a dick or anything, but does this qualify as a game even? Only by the slightest of margins, I suspect! There's an interesting review in French (Google Translate here ) that seems to be one of the only substantive things around about this "game". As the review notes,...

Browsing through the "unanswered posts" section and I came upon this thread, and 3DOKid's description made me curious enough to lead me to this video of the game: http://nicoviewer.net/sm15066750  I...don't really understand. I don't really know what that video is trying to do. Is it some sort of weird Youtube video-making spambot?

Ah, OK, I think I understand! One note -- "m*therf*cker" is a VERY strong profanity in English. It's probably better to edit that out (since it's against the rules of the forum). More to the point, I think here "yarou" is something more like "jerk", I think? It's pretty much impossible that a Hanna-...

How does FMV quality on the CD-i compare to the 3DO? Is there any consistent pattern, or is it heavily title-dependent? I've seen/read a couple game reviews where, on that particular game (e.g. Space Ace), the CD-i version's video quality was said to outshine the 3DO version. That surprised me, thou...

Very interesting post, Fujisan! By the way, my understanding is that the Wacky Races cartoon was very popular in Japan for some reason, much more than other Hanna-Barbera cartoons. Is that correct? I fired this up tonight in hopes of getting a quick, Mario Kart-ish fix with my fiancée.
