All right, so I finally got around to trying Shockwave. Guess what? Same deal as Gex. Game text is in English (more-so than Gex, I believe), but all of the voice acting is done in the foreign language. I really feel like I'm watching an old Godzilla movie when I play this one.

Originally watching YouTube videos of it sometime back, I got the impression it was all FMV. Must have been bad video quality though because it's definitely all polygons in real-time (with 2D sprites used as objects on the track).

So, at the local game shop today, I picked up one of the original pack-in copies of Crash 'n Burn. I've always wanted to check this one out, and now I've been able to. Feelings so far on it are mixed. Those character FMV segments are baaaaaaaaad, the music isn't great and overall the framerate isn't...

Hey man, putting the cart cleaner on is cheating.. nothing passes through it. Oh, and the PBC has to go on the top, all that other crap on top won't work.. Maybe replace the Sonic 2 with a Sonic 2 SMS cart in the PBC, haha..

I think you will like the 32X, and you're right, it is an underdog, but unlike the 3DO, it doesn't have a LOT of at least decent to good (many borderlining "great") games, partially because the library is so small. It also has a lot of games that are half-assedly done, like slap-to-the-face half-ass...

So, if I'm understanding this right.. You sold your Saturn to get a 32X? OK, now that's out of the way.. Erm.. Hm.. I guess I don't count, but I purchased a Goldstar unit from someone in '96 or '97, I think. It came with Bladeforce, Gex, and Super Street Fighter II.. Great games to start off with!

I was looking for 3DO games on eBay and I found two really cheap, complete, Korean releases. They had the long boxes and everything. I have never personally bothered to look into the Korean releases, and I am curious now--Are all of the releases "big box" games like our US titles, or are there some ...

I like a good rant every now and then. This one definitely fits into that category.

I was able to get into Shadowgate far on my own before needing a guide, but Deja Vu.. Hell no, lol. There was no way I was figuring that game out on my own.

Would be nice if there was some kind of removable storage media as well as open-source homebrew ability on it.

Hm, IIRC, full-screen video is based on whether the game does it or not (like Icebreaker's FMV.. pretty sure that's full screen). Unless you are talking MPEG/video cd viewing (I guess that could potentially be different, but I've never used it on a 3DO). Not sure if it's worth picking up a Jap unit ...

Yes the DC controller was one of the best, but they could have just taken the SS "Model 2" controller, stuck a thumb pad where the D-pad is, and called it a day.

Can you still find the HD-DVD drive add-on for 360? I suppose people are probably getting rid of those things left and right. Yep. If I remember right, they are really cheap now, too. I'm thinking about picking up one myself, just to take some wear off my system's drive when I want to watch movies ...
