That's brilliant. I agree, the article seems genuinely enthusiastic. I think perhaps that is because 3DO (and jaguar et al) ushered in a new dawn for gaming. The leap from 16bit (Amiga, SNES, MD, etc) to 32 bit was astonishing. I think once we have stomached through PS4, 720, and Wiiii, i think gam...

Why do you have to change your hand position? It's not like games use both the d-pad and the stick.

I can't even find a real CD-i controller that doesn't cost an arm and a leg. :( Ugh, try finding CD32 controllers. When I bought my system, it came with a busted controller. The seller was nice enough to send another one.. But it was busted, too. (Yeah, thanks for that!) I ended up teaching myself ...

N64 is one of the most comfortable controllers ever.

I'm convinced that everyone who says it's bad was trying to use the center stick when holding the left grip. I've seen too many people do that.

I really don't understand why some people hate DC controllers so much. Maybe they were meant for those of us with smaller hands? But there are third party controllers.... I love the Dreamcast, I really do. But the controllers are wrist-shattering. The grips are angled the wrong way. Wait, how did w...

Turbo buttons are great on the TurboGrafx/Duo! Of course, it helps that they come standard. Some games are made with them in mind.

I'm new here, but I do have one of these. It's... a surprisingly poor effort from Logitech. I found the button action was consistently good, but the design is bulky and uncomfortable, and it lacks a daisy chain port. Oh, this was Logitech, too? Let it be known that this is NOT the Logitech controll...

The Logitech pads and the later (smaller) Panasonic pads are the best. I particularly like that the Logitech pad has the 2-player port at the end of the cord, instead of the back of the controller.

The standard Panasonic controller is too big/clunky and has a mushy D-pad.

I'm with you on this one, Trev. Out of this World is a good game, but Flashback is GREAT and holds up much better today.

As for the rating differences, I've only played the 16-bit cart versions. Do the pre-rendered cut-scenes in the 3DO version have some gruesome content?

Yeah, it's there. You'll need SVN to check it out (or I guess just browse to each file independently). It looks like it's just the core system code, though. Stuff like the CPU and Madam components. I don't see any UI stuff. Seems like it's probably meant more for people to build their own new emulat...

I played it for the first time a year and a half or so ago. I wasn't terribly impressed and haven't gone back to it since. I should give it a fair shake, though, I think it had potential.

But the game isn't really textured, right? It's just FMV, a la Mega Race.
