The only part I had trouble with was the very end where you have to have EXACTLY the right items in your inventory or you can go to jail or whatever. I had to redo it to get it right. That was annoying.

But I hate the maze. I hate the backtracking, I hate the unvaried scenery, I hate the lack of characters to interact with, I hate having to use a walkthrough (put skelton cage in pool to trap a crab to feed to the octopus  ) It has been good up til this point ... As far as old adventur...

Isn't RE1 on Gamecube supposed to be a huge update over the original? I've never played an RE game, but I remember there being a lot of hype around the remake.

I have a LaserActive! It was probably my most indulgent of retro game purchases (I have a soft spot for obscure hardware). There are a few decent games for it, but they're pretty expensive still. I want Rocket Coaster, but don't really want to pay $100+ for it... Anyhow, it's a cool novelty and conv...

I always wanted to make a shoot em up. I just dont have the resources to do so. A really good idea would be to make a shoot em up engine where you can drop in your own art and make a game. open source of course. that would be cool in my opinion. I guess I'd have to start small and make a small demo...

Interesting thread -- I'm going to be traveling Europe for a month starting late August. I'm looking forward to meeting people and finding out their opinions of the US. :)

Oh, and part of this trip is two nights in Cardiff and two nights in London. Any tips on what to check out there, Kid?

I'm able to generate a working key for the disc_label rom_tags and boot (This is the 64 byte value stored at 0x900 on the homebrew/game guru disks). It's simply a matter of combining: First 0x84 bytes of the cd image (disc_label) The table located at 0x800 on the cd image (rom_tags). This variable ...

It sounds like the gears might be jammed on the laser assembly. I've had this happen with other systems. Open it up, and give a good push to move the laser to a different position. Then lube it up with some electronics grease to be extra safe.

Okay, some more thoughts... RSA signing is interesting. It works roughly like this (in 3DO terms): * The 3DO Company wants to send my 3DO a signed message (an approved game) * The 3DO Company will take my unsigned game and run a hash function on it to produce a number. * They will then take this num...

Been looking into RSA encryption a bit to understand how to put these to use. I have absolutely no previous experience with encryption, so these are some notes on what I've found from Google searches. If Altmer goes ahead and creates an image compiler that does this, then that's cool. Otherwise, I w...

Nah, got lucky on a thread over at Digital Press. Someone was doing an auction-style thread and didn't get many bids. I got a (mostly) working Jag CD at the same time for $15.
