Re: 3do power options(NTSC unit in Australia)

As an Australian, the best 3DO to get your hands on are the locally released Goldstars. The distributor at the time diverted these from Hong Kong. 240v , Australian plug and NTSC. They were often sold with PAL /NTSC converters , more and more TV's were being sold with NTSC capabilities anyway.

I bought my original 3DO on the belief that "A World for all Seasons" was being released. That was the biggest disappointment for me

Typical negative article based on heresy. Many of us here have Sanyos , myself included. Many journos at the time were under pressure to promote anything Sony and bag everything else for advertising kickbacks

Re: That mysterious cable into my FZ-1

We saw similar things with the Panasonic units sold here in Australia. As they had no official release boutique importers modified them themselves with mixed quality and results. When Goldstar finally launched here they had correct factory installed 240v power supplies but remained NTSC. Not a brill...

Re: T2KFreeker's meager 3DO collection.

3DO is a great system to collect for as between 300 and 400 games in total isn't an insane amount to have. However, counting prototypes , bizarre releases and having relaxed licensing at the time , no one is still sure of the exact amount which makes finding and researching its titles somewhat excit...

Sad to see any page with an active community die. I dropped in occasionally and often lurked. Everybody is welcome here - just leave your dramas/past behind. I still have a working Jag CD setup and one of my custom painted Jags can be clearly seen on the set of Australian national tv show Good Game.

Re: Was the 3do released in australia?

Several independent importers modified Panasonic versions for local sale , but Goldstar did give it an official Australian release. It struggled due to a lack of Goldstar distributors here in Australia and because they elected to base it on the Hong Kong release which was 240v but still NTSC. Only n...

Re: The big questions to help me buy the best 3DO

Sadly they're hard to find here too. Goldstar was the only company to officially launch the 3do here and totally ballsed it up. Still a fledgling brand they had few distributors , and the few major department stores they were in wouldn't take the consoles , primarily because few Australians had NTSC...
