Strange. There was a friend of mine had a FZ-10 with Street Fighter. He was a huge SF nut back then and he loved the 3DO version, never said anything about the controller being unsuitable. But then again, each to their own I guess, and they brought out arcade sticks for fighting games on 3DO anyway...

Baseball Simulator 1.000 for the original NES. In an era when just having a baseball game draw all nine players on the field was considered revolutionary, Culture Brain's Baseball Simulator 1.000 went above and beyond with battery storage so that you had complete statistical tracking, managerial co...

Keystone Kapers for the Atari 2600. One of the cornerstones that built Activision, it's infinitely replayable, and was a standout staple for Atari's line that separated them from Intellivision and Magnavox. EGM's Game of the Year in 1983. I'll say it's uncommon, because it took a backseat within Ac...

For those of you in the States with a nearby Big K/K-Mart, it looks as though the chain is going through an electronics department reset and huge video game inventory dump. My local Big K still had PS2, GameCube, and Game Boy Advanced games under lock and key up until just a few months ago. Well, I ...

Although my machine has never shut down entirely , I have had it reset on a few occasions when playing music cds. The timing was similar to yours too (about 1/2 hr or so into the disc) Howver, I don't listen to music cd's on my 3do very often, so I'm not really sure what would cause it. My shot in ...

Strange behavior by my FZ-1
The setup: I have a game room in the basement of my home -- the "man cave." Due to a lack of composite-ins on my TV/surround setup, and for space considerations, my consoles pull double duty. The 3DO is my CD player, the PlayStation 2 is my DVD player, etc. It's very ghetto and college dorm life. La...

Al Gore is the gaming worlds answer to the Grinch isn't he. Hmm, probably couldn't pin that on Al Gore. I was talking more in the sense of the 3DO packaging parroting what the music industry did back in the early 90s with the long box. In the US, the modern day Grinch is unquestionably Jack Thompso...

I think eventually the shops put an end too it, as it was taking up huge amounts of shelf/stock space I guess. The shops didn't care so much about the size of the boxes, as they proved by putting EVERYTHING in those locking anti-theft cases once the long boxes went kaput. Nope. Environmentalists do...

This is actually a 3D Zero Controller. It originally came with a little stick that screws into the d pad. There's a picture of the box and all over on 3DO Today on the accessory page. I think the stick part is fairly neat although being as small as it is, I can't see it being that useful and likely...

Now playing: On the DS- Mario Kart DS with the wife and son (we each have our own DS), Zelda: Phantom Hourglass when not doing the multiplayer thing. On the Wii- Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn and Guitar...

Anyone deal with RenChi?
I'm looking at buying some DS Lite accessories through Renchi, particularly the Tomy Slipon Socks, which I haven't been able to find through any US based stores or US located eBay sellers. Just wondering if anyone has dealt with international orders through Renchi before, and what you thought? Safe ...

Still Wii-less, and still PS2-less as well. Although, as luck would have it, a person I work with sent out an email offering up her 60Gb PS3 which had only ever been turned on "maybe 10 times." She watched some Blu-Ray movies and played a PS2 Kingdom Hearts disc on it, and that was it. I asked her h...

I doubled my Wii library by picking up 9 games at Toys R Us last week during their Buy 2 Get 1 Free sale. I "beat" Galaxy last night, though completing the story only requires 60 of the 242 total possible stars in the game. Just as well though, I'll be Wii-less over the next couple of weeks as I've ...

What is often overlooked in the 3DOs demise in the US was how it was presented at retail. There was a major shift in the 90s, thanks to Nintendo going mainstream in the 80s, and 3DO failed to take advantage. If anyone remembers the good ole days of the 70s and early 80s (again, from my US point of r...

Primal Rage was a bundle with many GoldStar 3DOs, so I would gather there are a fair number of people who are fiercely loyal to the game because it was their "baby" when they bought their 3DOs. It's like Duck Hunt on the NES or Hang On on the Sega; boring repetitive crap with virtually no replay val...

I used to work at an ISP in the mid 90s. I played a lot of Rise of the Triad on the PC back then, and that game had the F12 key escape to a DOS shell -- that was pretty cool. Also, the guy I shared an office with would run a program called Picture Sucker to download his porn since the OC-12 fibre co...
